I wrote a fairly large program in g++ 1.4. We are now upgrading our system to use gcc 2.2.2 for our c++ needs. However, when re-compiling my program with gcc 2.2.2 in g++ mode I get a few errors which I don't understand. I don't believe these errors are programming errors since the program compiled and ran fine under g++ 1.4 Here are the errors: I included the header file stream.h in a header file called globals.h (not as bad as it sounds) which was included from header file lex.h which was included from file scan.c, and I received this error. /usr/local/lib/g++-include/streambuf.h: In method `ios::ios (struct streambuf* (= 0 ), class ostream* (= 0 ))': In file included from /usr/local/lib/g++-include/iostream.h:25, from /usr/local/lib/g++-include/stream.h:7, from globals.h:7, from lex.h:2, from scan.c:1: /usr/local/lib/g++-include/streambuf.h:436: warning: declaration of `tie' shadows a member of `this' *** Error code 1 I also received erros like these too. Is there some other header file I now need to include for malloc and MAXINT to exist? lex.c:158: warning: implicit declaration of function `malloc' lex.c:229: `MAXINT' undeclared (first use this function) Finally, while trying to get some other options working I used the gcc option -msvr4 mentioned in the gcc man page, however it gave me this error. Any ideas? cc1plus: Invalid option `svr4' We are still installing and testing gcc 2.2.2 and if any of these errors appear to be a problem with installation or header files, please let me know. Thanks!

I don't get this error. lex.c:158: warning: implicit declaration of function `malloc' malloc() is defined in stdlib.h (following ANSI C). Replace MAXINT by INT_MAX in limits.h (again, ANSI C). --Per Bothner Cygnus Support bothner@cygnus.com
