ME TOO!

I am using gcc 2.2.2 to try to make libg++-2.2, and I get complaints about
dummy.o too. My machine is a DECStation 5000 model 240 running ultrix V4.2A
I also tried gcc-2.1 and libg++-2.0 which got me other errors. I'd
be happy with any working pair.

With gcc 2.2.2 and a make of libg++ 2.2  I get :

echo "# !Automatically generated from ./functions.def" "- DO NOT EDIT!" >needed2.awk
grep '^DEFVAR(' < ./functions.def   | sed -e '/DEFVAR/s|DEFVAR.\([^,]*\).*|/\1/
{ printf \"#ifndef NEED_\1\\n#define NEED_\1\\n#endif\\n" }|'   >>needed2.awk
grep '^DEFFUNC(' < ./functions.def   | sed -e '/DEFFUNC/s|DEFFUNC.\([^,]*\).*|/\1/ { printf \"#ifndef NEED_\1\\n#define NEED_\1\\n#endif\\n" }|'   >>needed2.awkcc -Wf,-XNg1000 -c -g -I. -I./../include  ./dummy.c
(cc -Wf,-XNg1000  dummy.o  ) >errors 2>&1 || true
rm -f a.out dummy.o
echo "/* !Automatically generated from ./functions.def"   "- DO NOT EDIT! */" >config.h
awk -f needed2.awk <errors >>config.h
cc -Wf,-XNg1000 -c -g -I. -I./../include  basename.c

And with gcc gcc-2.1 and a make of libg++-2.0 I get

I'd appreciate any help,

You should also try setting CC explicitly:
	make CC=gcc

The next release will do things slightly differently.
