HELP size_type failure with libg++-2.2

 Im a bit confused about what "SIZE_TYPE" should be for our dec vax running
bsd unix.
 I gened gcc 2.2.2 using  "configure vax-dec-bsd".
 I gened libg++ 2.2 using "configure vax-dec-bsd".

but the libg++ fails because it thinks SIZE_TYPE should be:

long int           - while gcc built-in thinks SIZE_TYPE should be:

long unsigned int

 So which is right or where did i go wrong?????
