Is it kosher to use ar to make libxxx.a files out of g++ classes and such? On one hand, I'm tempted to say yes. Member functions are just name mangled into "normal" functions. On the other hand, will ld/ar be smart enough to figure out possible runtime dependencies resulting from virtual funtions? I think not. To make matters worse, I'm linking by using gcc since gcc (for some reason) seems to be able to handle dynamic linking (or at least not crash when including Sunview libraries) -Sho -- sho@risc.com <<-- overworked. underpaid. aren't we all?
