The following is either a bug in gcc or a bug in its documentation. I suspect the latter. I'm using gcc2.2. When a function is defined as 'inline' but optimization is not selected, the function is NOT inlined. Presumably this is an aid to debugging. It's reasonable behavior, but it is completely undocumented. I suggest that an appropriate paragraph be placed in the Inline info node, as this behaviour was a surprise to me, and I spent a while thinking that inline was completely broken before I figured out what was wrong. I won't venture to suggest the text of the paragraph because I'm not absolutely certain I understand the exact conditions under which `inline'-declared functions are actually inlined. Thanks, John
