The libg++.a presents different problem on AIX and NeXT. On NeXT, "g++ a.c" will generate a message "/usr/local/lib/libg++.a not up to date", which can be readily cured by "ranlib -t libg++.a" to make it up-to-date. On AIX, "g++ a.c" will generate the following error messages: 0706-005 ld: Cannot find file: /lib/libg++.a Check path name and permissions or use local problem reporting procedures. collect: /usr/bin/ld returned 255 exit status Seems like /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/rs6000/2.3.1/ld should be invoked instead of /usr/bin/ld. Thanks for the good work! GCC is extremely useful to us. -- Terry Hung - Stanford Linear Accelerator Center phone: 415-926-3618 e-mail: terryh@unixhub.slac.stanford.edu
