gcc dumps in asm

gcc 2.2.2 on a sun4 (sparc) running SunOS 4.1.1 dump
core trying to compile this:

main()
{
    int comp ;
    __asm__("mov %0, %i0;ret;restore %0, 0, %%i1"::"r" (comp));
}

I know there's a bug (can't use %0 twice), but is it really
necessary to dump core?
