I am trying to install gcc-2.2.2 on IBM/RS6000 AIX 3.2.0
I am running into the following problem.
#configure --target=rs6000-ibm-aix
    ------
    ------
    ------
    Merged x-rs6000
    Created 'Makefile'

#make LANGUAGES=c
    ------
    --- LOTS OF output
       rm alloca.s
    rm: alloca.s: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.
    make 1254-005 ignored error code 2 from last command.
    --------
    ----- LOTS of output.
    ----------
       for name in _muldi3 _divdi3 _moddi3 .........
          do \
           echo ${name}; \
           ./gcc -O2 -g  -B./ -g1 -I. -I. -I./config -c -DL${name} \
               ./libgcc2.c -o ${name}.o;
            -----
            ------
           -------
    _muldi3
    Assembler:
    /tmp/ccPQMDmb.s: line 245: 1252-142 Syntax error.
    make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 1.

    Make Quitting.

  IT seems to be in the following code.

  #ifdef L_muldi3
  long long
  __muldi3(u,v)
     long long u,v;
  {
    ---
  }
  #endif

  I did not install RS6000 /bin/as patch. According to the README file
  this should only effect code compiled with '-g' flag. I also tried
  to do 'make L--=c' by taking out '-g' flag from Makefile. Still it
   did not work.

  Any help is greately appreciated.

  Thank YOu.
