GCC 2.3.1/i386-isc BUG REPORT

My Name and Address Is:

Internet: jdf@fields.cin.oh.us Jonathan D. Fields
UUCP: ...!uunet!fields!jdf 5080 Kugler Mill Road
Voice: 513-891-5081 (6-10 PM EST) Cincinnati, Ohio 45236, USA

My System Is A:

	33 Mhz 386, no FP co-processor, running
	Interactive Systems UNIX System V/386
	Release 3.2, Version 2.2.1.

The Compiler I am Trying to Build Is:

gcc 2.3.1, obtained by applying patches gotten from UUNET to
	2.2.2 source.

The Configuration I am Using Is:

	configure i386-isc

The Problems I am Experiencing Are:

	- enquire, compiled by stage1 GCC compiler, aborts (see copy of
float.h below). The signal was an arithmetic exception.

	- Stage2 gcc (that which was compiled by the stage1 GCC) aborts
	  when attempting to compile enquire.c

	- After fudging a float.h, to get past previous problem, the stage2
GCC aborts with internal error trying to compile tree.c. The signal
	  was an arithmetic exception.

	- Stage2 aborts with an internal error trying to compile fold-const.c
The signal was an arithmetic exception.

	- I haven't tried anything beyond this. Stack traces follow.

	- A minor problem, but the patches that I received from UUNET
failed on the INSTALL file. I am relatively sure that my
2.2.2 INSTALL is valid, but not 100% sure. Ignore this comment
if you have not seen any other complaints to this affect.

I built gcc 2.2.2 with no problems (except for some warnings in
float.h from enquire) and have used both the C compiler and the
C++ compiler quite extensively.

If there is any more information that you need, please let me know
and I'll send it to you. Unfortunately, I cannot offer any Internet
or dialup access to this system at this time.

Thanks!
