g++ bug

I just installed gcc-2.1 and libg++-2.0 obtained from prep.ai.mit.edu
on our DecSystem 5100 running Ultrix 4.1. Collect2 has been installed,
but I am having problems with constructors: the program foo from
test-install on the libg++ distribution gets the following diffs:

1a2,3
> Initializing Foo(2) "static_foo1" with Foo(1)
> Destructing Foo(1) "static_foo1" (remaining foos: 1)
2a5,6
> Initializing Foo(3) "static_foo2" with Foo(2)
> Destructing Foo(2) "static_foo2" (remaining foos: 2)
14,15c18,19
< Destructing Foo(2) "static_foo2" (remaining foos: 1)
< Destructing Foo(1) "static_foo1" (remaining foos: 0)
---
> Destructing Foo(3) "static_foo2" (remaining foos: 1)
> Destructing Foo(2) "static_foo1" (remaining foos: 0)

It appears the very first Initialization should not have occurred.
What went wrong? How serious is it? How do I fix it?
