syslimits.h non existant on sunos4.N

I have recently made gcc-2.3.2. I then proceeded to make glibc-1.05.

I am using a spaarcstation IPC running SunOS 4.1.1 Rev B.

A have had recurrent error messages about syslimits.h not being found.

On investigation, the copy of .../gcc-lib/sparc-sun-sunos4.1/2.3.2/include/limits.h
contains the lines:

----8<--snip--snip-------------------------------------------------------------

/* This administrivia gets added to the beginning of limits.h
   if the system has its own version of limits.h. */

/* We use _GCC_LIMITS_H_ because we want this not to match
   any macros that the system's limits.h uses for its own purposes. */
#ifndef _GCC_LIMITS_H_  /* Terminated in limity.h.  */
#define _GCC_LIMITS_H_

#ifndef _LIBC_LIMITS_H_
/* Use <...> so that we find syslimits.h only in system include dirs. */
#include <syslimits.h>
#endif

----8<--snip--snip-------------------------------------------------------------

But my system does not have a syslimits.h file. Would the copy of
syslimits.h in .../gcc-lib/sparc-sun-sunos4.1/2.3.2/include/syslimits.h
do instead ? Or did my make install-fixincludes not work right ?

You do however have sys/limits.h.

It appears that syslimits.h is suppose to be sys/limits.h. Thats the fix I made
to mine and everything appears to be working fine.

I too am having problems with gcc-2.3.2 and glibc-1.05. I have pretty much
the same set up as Dunstan except that I have a IPX running 4.1.2. Here's
what I've done:

o made gcc-2.3.2 (stage1/stage2/stage3/compare/install/fixincludes)
  everything went fine and I tested it on one of my larger programs and
  it compiled cleanly

o tried to make glibc-1.05 and ran into troubles. Here's what I did:

	o my configparms looks like this:

	  CC=/home/local/bin/gcc
	  prefix=/home/local
	  exec_prefix=/home/local
	  defines := -D__SIZE_TYPE__='unsigned long int'
	  override stddef.h =
	  override stdarg.h =

	o ./configure sparc-sun-sunos4.1

	o gmake lib
	  grinds away for quite some time and then gives a number of
	  *** gmake errors (which the INSTALL file says to watch out
	  for) and quits after

	  [lots 'o stuff deleted]
	  a - rexec.o
	  a - ruserpass.o
	  a - herror.o
	  gmake: *** [subdir_lib] Error 1

I've tried reinstalling everything several times and am about at the end
of my rope. It's not clear to me how/where gcc looks for its default
libraries or how it knows to use glibc once it's compiled. I compiled
gcc with --prefix=/home/local and glibc with the same prefixes. Should
fixincludes even be run if glibc is going to be used? I've got the
following gnu products and am now unsure of their order of installation
and degree of redundancy (if any):

gcc-2.3.2
glibc-1.05
libg++-2.2

Any advice would be much appreciated.

When I intalled gcc-2.3.2 on a hp730 running hpux I discovered that
I also am missing syslimits.h, on a hunch I checked for sys/limits.h
but it also does not exist. Anyone know what I should be doing to
fix this?

Same here on SCO ODT 2.0, after using the sysv fix file, rather than
fixincludes.

I just changed <syslimits.h> to <limits.h>. Foolish?
