Subject: GCC 2.0 - 2.1 Debug on Irix 4.0.1

When we moved up from Irix 3.3 to Irix 4.0.1 on our system (an SGI 4d-320),
GCC 2.0 stopped producing debugging information that could be used by
dbx. The current status is that only external variables can be
examined. Also, the frame stack is not correctly displayed. dbx
still works with the cc supplied by SGI. gdb 4.4 doesn't work either.

I tried rebuilding GCC 2.0 and GCC 2.1 with the configure options
mips-sgi-irix4, but the debug problem wouldn't go away.
I also tried, with no success,
to use the patches for mips-tfile supplied with GCC 2.1.

Does anybody know if GCC is supposed to produce debug information
under Irix 4.0.1 ??

Does anybody have a version of GCC 2.0 or GCC 2.1 that produces
correct debug info for the SGI ??

I do '-ggdb'. I also managed to get gdb limping on this OS. Drop
me a note if you are interested.
