Compiling X-compiler on RS6000

Hi,
	I comiled gcc 2.2.2 successfully (stage3) on a RS6000 running
AIX 3.2+. When I then tried to use gcc to compile a cross compiler for
i386, it failed.

The assembler (IBM) dies with the message saying that the
branch offset computed is to large to fit in the instruction

	bc 12,4,L..1005

I tried again compiling it without the -g flag, but the same
result occured.

When I looked at the assembly file (500K big) there are about
10000 lines of instructions/data between the branch and the label, so
I can't say for sure if there is a problem with gcc or with the assembler.
If the offset in the branch instruction is in bytes, its not the asseblers
fault (10000x4 > 32K), however if the offset is 32 bit alligned then it
is a gcc problem. Oh, by the way, the file that it barfs on in cp-parse.c.

	Has anyone else seen this??

	Thanks a lot,

		Lars Fredriksen

PS: I am trying to get a resulution from IBM wether or not this is an
assembler bug at the same time.
