I am sorry if this is the wrong list, but I do need help. I am trying to keep gcc and g++ from being booted out of our department. Their argument is very compelling, "Hey, if it's from Sun it's obviously good. Further, anything you pay for is obviously good." Does anyone have data concerning specifically the quality of gcc, both at producing accurate code and efficient code? What I really need is quantitative data. Please email to me and I will summarize and post if there is enough interest. -Thanks, Michael -- =============================================================================== German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, on the inauguration of Germany's first Holocaust memorial, saying Germans must never forget Nazi atrocities: ``(We) owe it to our children and grandchildren. We must pass on to them the realization that it is not at all self-evident that one should be allowed to live in peace and freedom.''
