file path prefix 'static'

I have just finished compiling gcc 2.2.2.

Upon using it to compile and link code that was previously compiled
under 1.37.1, I get the following message after the link step:

file path prefix 'static' never used

What's the deal here? What does it mean? Is it a warning, or a fatal
error message?

Also, can anyone give me a reference to documentation describing how
to get gnu emacs to load the gcc.info files?

Thanks
