Several days ago I posted the following message to this group. >Do any of you know of a GCC port to the IBM 3090 family >running AIX? > >We've been looking for such a beast for quite awhile. I >did find the mvs.* config files for the 370 architecture >from a source overseas, and I do have Chuck Simmons v1.18 >Amdahl port. > >I moved the v1.18 port to the v1.40 level fairly successfully >only to find that the assembly output of gcc is bad for the >native C compiler we have. Because the Amdahl work wasn't suitable I unwrapped the mvs.tar files than Jan Stein (jan@cd.chalmers.se) contributed. Stein's work was for System/370 and it comes somewhat closer than the other. I'll need to read some docs on the AIX assembler we have to understand its conventions. Meanwhile, again, I'll ask if anyone out there with a big blue machine has ported GCC to it. ...Give me decent tools! gary kline
