Well, I'm suprised that coactive hasn't contributed since they are on
the net and read this group (coactive@coactive.com). Anyway, they "give"
you GCC when you buy their product. Note that nothing in the GNU license
says that they have to give it to you just because they have it :-) It
only says that if they do give it to you, they have to also make the source
available, they can't charge unreasonable distribution fees, etc, etc.

I'm also "on the fence" on whether or not to get their board. What I
_want_ to buy (and will send $199 to whomever advertises it :-)) is
a 6811 board that includes 4 motor driver chips like the miniboard,
plus some high current outputs that I can use to drive a couple of
stepper motors if I want, plus space for 32K of EPROM and 32K of battery
backed up RAM. Plus it runs on 5v and has a max232 RS-232 port.
Optionally it should come with Basic-11 in an EPROM but that isn't
strictly a requirement. The nice thing about the miniboard is that it
is _designed_ for robotics. Whereas most other "microcontroller" products
on the market today are "general purpose" (which means it can do anything
with a bit more hardware and software). At least the EVB board actually
has prototype space for you to add your hardware.

Itt seems that a reasonable design would be one with a "bus" at one end
of the card and several special purpose daughter board cards like :
	robotics daughter board
	sensor daughter board
	hicurrent controller board
	X-10 controller board
	keypad interface board.
(you get the picture.)
