GNU profiling tools for SCO UNIX & gcc?

Hello,

I'm having a lot of difficulty trying to use the prof program provided
by SCO in conjunction with gcc 1.39. I occasionally see GNU gprof
mentioned around here, and I'm wondering if it or something similar
would work on my box. I want to be able to do some profiling/analysis
of programs I've written and compiled using gcc. Any pointers much
appreciated. Thanks.
