I am posting this news here, but I don't know if it is the right place.
Anyway, I 'm having problem with gcc2.3.1 compilation on our RS6000 running
AIX3.2
I followed the steps described in the INSTALL file.
% configure --target=rs6000-ibm-aix
Everthing is OK . Then I just type
% make LANGUAGES=c
After I while ( rather half an hour !!), I got the fllowinfg message :
.
.

true; \
else \
touch libgcc2.ready; \

I saw this behavior too. Change the Makefile to compile things without
the -g and the -g1 debugging flags. Then it will compile ok.

You haven't fixed the problem, just hidden it for a while. You need to
get the fixed compiler. I built gcc-2.3.1 on AIX-3.1 and AIX-3.2 out of
the box.
From the ./gcc-2.3.1/README.RS6000:
Debugging code compiled with GCC on the RS/6000 requires that you
upgrade the AIX assembler /bin/as with a replacement that is available
from IBM.
Any customer can order and get the replacement assembler, and install
it on one or more machines. It is distributed both on diskette and
via VNET, for downloading via ftp. VNET distribution may be desirable
if you have a friendly IBM rep nearby with a networked VM machine.
In either case, to order, execute
lslpp -h bos.obj to determine your release level. (Look on the
ACTIVE line for something like 03.01.0005.0012.) Then call IBM Support
at 800-237-5511. Ask for emergency shipment of the rs6000 AIX fix for
APAR IX26107.
Cheers,
Tom McConnell

You have the wrong assembler, the one that IBM normally supplies. Read
the file `README.RS6000' from the gcc distribution for detailed
instructions. It worked for me.

I want to use a probe (a counter) in the RTL code and store the block counts in an array in RTL. Please help.
