Language frontends for gcc?
#614

Someone mentioned to me that there was a project where someone was building
a Fortran compiler using the guts of gcc and a new frontend. Not that I
personally endorse the use of Fortran, mind you :-) Does anyone know if
this is true, who is doing it, where the code is available, etc.?

Along the same lines, what about Pascal?

Please copy me via email when you post responses.

Thanks for any information,

I've been told about the Gnu Fortran project. Several responses suggested
I contact Craig Burley at burley@gnu.ai.mit.edu.

There's also a Gnu Pascal for a gcc 2.0 base. This is available via anonymous
FTP from kampi.hut.fi in the directory jtv/gnu-pascal.

Thanks for the help, everybody!

The address to write to be added to the GNU Fortran mailing list is
info-gnu-fortran-request@prep.ai.mit.edu. For information about how
alpha-testing is going, finger -l fortran@gnu.ai.mit.edu. Writing
Burley won't get you much of an answer while he's on vacation.

Does anyone have any more information about Gnu Pascal? Is it available on
a US archive?

Thanks
