I've built GDB 4.5 on our HP 9000/720 for cross development on our own development boards. However, trying to build 4.6 is going nowhere. For 4.5 I used -host=hp9k720 which worked great. In 4.6 the configure script still recognizes this host but translates it to hppa1.1-hp which bfd knows nothing about. After scanning config.sub I see the entry "hppahpux" (we're running 8.07). I try this for host and after patching in our remote interface files for the target the config process runs fine. When building it bfd decides to compile the file hppa.c which in turn uses a data object called hppa_data. A grep of the entire release confirms the fact that this object is defined NOWHERE! 4.5 build so easy and 4.6 is causing me to pull my hair out. I know there is a version available strictly for PA-RISC but since I'm doing cross development I don't think that it would easily be bent into shape for my purposes. Would the PA-RISC version help or is there something else out there? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, -- dougg@kentek.com Doug Gerecht
