GDB for in-circuit emulators?

Has anyone heard of/used/hacked up GDB to function with
AMS or ZAX in-circuit emulators? Gory details would be
appreciated -- XRay contains many irritating misfeatures
and bad design choices, and alternatives would be
heavily appreciated. Hell, if anyone else has had
great experiences with other ICEs+GDB or whatever, feel
free to tell me what's up.
Please mail me directly, as my UNIX account isn't set
up yet and I'm posting through ucbvax.
