v.4.7 print much too slow

I just upgraded from gdb 4.5 to 4.7 on a Sun Sparc 2/SunOS 4.1.2, and find
the print function *really* slow (5-10 seconds for the most measly symbol lookup).
The previous version didn't have this problem. Anybody else faced this?

Actually, I have linked gdb with the latest duel package (comp.sources.misc) - 
CHECK IT OUT - but other than introducing a new command into gdb, it does not
touch anything else.
