gdb 4-7 System i386, DELL SVR4 issue 2.2 Native cc Cfront <<AT&T C++ Translator 2.1.0 03/31/90>>. Howdy! We have attemted to construct gdb on above mentioned system. It was straigth-forward built with the native c-compiler. When run, gdb was not able to find c++ source files! That means files with extension .C. It is always looking for .c files. And from it deducing that the source is a c-program. We could make links to the *.C whith extension *.c and when we gave commands set language c++ set demangle-style cfront It worked fine. Stepping thrue programs, inspecting data etc, etc!!. I have been trying to compile with definitions as -D__BASE_FILE__='"Test.C"' -D__FILE__='"Test.C"' But no success. Still it only looks for '*.c' files. We are using Computer Innovations port of Cfront. Where ,the ):--(, is he looking for the extension.Any advice is welcome. Greetings Ivan P. When compiling the test.C program with gcc-2.2.2 this problem dosn't occur. Unfortunately gcc doesn't work very often with -g flag on C++ files on SVR4. ------------------------------------------------------------ Frontec Datakom, PO Box 204, S-191 23 Sollentuna, Sweden Ph: +46 8 6237391 Fax: +46 8 965510 Memo:extr.xkkivan

This is a bug in the SVR4 c compiler, which assumes (incorrectly) that any file you're compiling with the c compiler has suffix ".c". Your best bet is to get whoever is in charge of the c compiler at your site to fix the compiler. Alternatively, you could write a post-processor to fix up the information yourself. It's easiest to do this using the ".s" file, since this will keep you from needing to learn the elf access library.
