On apple-gunkies in /usr/gnu/gcc, I ran gdb on cc1 and did dis loop_stack.data.loop.start_label GDB stopped at a breakpoint when loop_stack was 0, and it got an error (not surprisingly) computing that expression. It then said "disablng display 1 to avoid infinite recursion". It should not disable the display. It should simply ignore that display when it gets an error, but leave it enabled so that it will display as requested whenever it is valid.
