gdb 4.4 on NCR 3000

Hi. A friend on mine (really :-) is having trouble using gdb 4.4
    on an NCR 3000 (SVR4 release 2 i.e. multi-processor version) on
code compiled with the Metaware High C compiler version 2.3x.

She has compiled gdb ok (after fixing one thing the compiler
didn't like) and can gdb programs until they do a libc call:
stepping over such a call stuffs the stack and symbol table such
that it is impossible to continue (continuing over a libc call is
better but still stuffs the stack). She has tried using both the
dynamic libc and static libc but with the same result. Any help
    would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers ...
