There is a limit of approximately 100 entries in the Fontmap.  The
limit is the same as the size of FontDirectory, which is set in
gs_init.ps in the line
	/FontDirectory 100 dict def

On MS-DOS systems, there is also a limit to the number of .PFB fonts
that can be loaded at one time.  This is due to a bug in Ghostscript
such that it fails to close the font file; eventually it runs out of
open file handles.  This limit is set by the FILES= line in the
CONFIG.SYS file.  I suspect it is this limit that you are running
into.

The "Can't find ..." message is a catch-all indicating inability to
load the font from the indicated file.  It should really say "Can't
find (or can't open) ...."

If increasing the FILES= limit and/or the size of FontDirectory
doesn't solve your problem, please e-mail me your Fontmap and the
pscriptd.ini file.
