I just discovered a small bug in Ghostscript 2.5.2 that could cause
the bdftops utility to fail most or all of the time.  To fix it, make
the following change in the file impath.ps:
    line 177:
	   ofilter mark /endchar charstack_write
    change to:
	   mark /endchar ofilter charstack_write
