Here is a summary of the problems I encountered when compiling the
GhostScript distribution on an HP 9000/720:
1 - gdevx.c:
Problem: "attempt to redefine" error
Solution: stat() macro expansions must be expanded by hand
2 - gstype1.c:
Problem: symbol table overflow
Solution: compile with "-Wc,-Nw8000" switch
3 - gxclist.c:
Problem: C1 enternal error
Solution: compile without "-O" switch
4 - gdevmem1.c: 457
Problem: operands have incompatible types
Solution: cast both to int
5 - _temp_ (makefile)
Problem: bad switch, can't find libraries
Solution: Add a space after the "L" switch in XLIBDIRS= in
the makefile; rename library paths
