Has anyone put together anything to "generalize" the type1imagepath operator? What I'd like to be able to do is to feed Ghostscript a bitmap image and get back a set of postscript instructions (lines, curves, fills, strokes, etc.) to draw the image. I know this is essentially what bdftops does (and how the Ghostscript fonts were created), but it is very specific, reading a bdf file and producing a font. I was wondering if anyone had set up something to read an image and then extract the drawing data from the results of type1imagepath. I can probably figure out how to do it, but it's a wheel I'd rather not have to invent, if possible. I'm trying to convert smallish black and white scanned (and manually cleaned up) images to something I I can afford to store and transmit reasonably well. Alternatively, does anyone know of any other software to convert bitmaps to line/curve drawings?
