Is it iwpr or gs causing this? I'm assuming that there are not significant differences between the (Apple-oriented?) deskwriter C and the generic HP DeskJet 500C in the following ... I think what you are seeing is simply the clipping of the page due to the deskjet (deskwriter) margins. For the colour deskjet drivers (cdeskjet, cdjcolor, cdjmono), you can simply edit the source code to reduce the top margin (the last parameter of DESKJET_MARGINS_LETTER or DESKJET_MARGINS_A4) to minimise the non-printing margin at the top of the page, as long as you make it >= to the PRINT_LIMIT parameter. For these drivers, this will still give you correct positioning on the page (however, with the monochrome deskjet drivers, altering the top margin WILL change the position on the page). The margins are set at present to conform (for US-Letter paper size) to HP's recommendation on maximum page length (3100 raster lines), but you will find that in practice, this can be exceeded without problem. For the bottom margin, however, there is a fundamental limitation in that the printer cannot print the last half inch (due to the way it grabs the paper). There is no easy way around this, other than to use larger paper (maybe use A4 to preview US-Letter?) The only other thing I can think of would be to use a postscript preamble to scale the page down slightly, so that your printable area doesn't intrude onto the bottom margin. Hope that helps.
