configuration: Sparc IPC, SunOS 4.1.1, gcc 2.2.2, gs 2.5.2, X11R5
when compiling ghostscript with gcc 2.2.2, use of the -O2 option
causes glitches when displaying the `chess.ps' example using the
X driver. compiling with -O works fine.
the error is that the chess pieces are "smeared" out to the left.
the smearing always occurs, but varies in form and extent with
each invocation of gs. sometimes long streaks of black appear.
this is possibly a gcc bug, but i don't know enough about gs to pinpoint
which routine(s) are affected and thus make this determination.
