gcc chokes on gdevmem.h (and also a driver Q)
#491

I have been installing GS2.5.2 on a DECstation 5000 running Ultrix 4.2A
using gcc 2.3.1 and I run into the following problem:
   'Invalid control sequence in gdevmem.h'

The lines where it chokes are:
  #if !(arch_sizeof_int == 2 || arch_sizeof_int == 4)
  # error sizeof(int) must be 2 or 4 for correct operation.
  #endif

I wrote a short 'c' program to check that sizeof(int) returns a two or
four ...it does.

I then commented this section out and recompiled.

It worked, but when I tried to run it I got
	core dumped and a whole bunch of 'Unrecoverable errors'

When I tried it using cc, it ran (with the commenting) but
gave a whole bunch of 'Fixed align problems at PC' messages

Any clues, comments (reply by e-mail)

DRIVER
	Will the la50 driver work with the DEC la324 printers, or is
there an IBM proprinter XL24 driver out there somewhere.

 Most interesting, could this be human joke number 663?
 Negative, Data. That's a Captain's order.
