Yes, indeed I had the same problem with psutils output and it cost me
some wasted printouts because I couldn't preview the file. Now in the
meantime I acquired a better understanding of PostScript and when I read
your article, I had the idea that maybe we should make systemdict
writable. I just tried it and it did work though it may not really be
the ultimate solution. So try to call gs with the option
-dWRITESYSTEMDICT. Yes, this option is in the manpages, but it is not
easy to find, just like the manpages themselves. (they're not
automatically installed)

I don't have any problems with this. You could try the -dWRITESYSTEMDICT flag
to ghostscript. I'm using dvips 5.495, so it could be differences in dvips?

Thanks to Alexander and Angus, who where the first who pointed out,
that -dWRITESYSTEMDICT should help. It does! To Angus: it apparently 
does not depend on the dvips-version.

*** SIGH ***, I MUST start reading PostScript-books.
