I am trying to use a phonetic font which is compatible with Computer Modern with groff. I used tfmtodit with texr.map and then subsequently with an empty cmph.map (to generate a font file which could only be accessed with the \N option). No matter what I do, however, cmr10 is substituted. The font file is called PHR, and groff is run with "groff -Tdvi -fPH -me". With -Tdvi, R is a font not a style, so -fPH will have no effect. In any case, if you have a font whose characters can only be accessed with \N, then it wouldn't be a good idea for that font to be R. I suggest you just use \f[PHR] when you want to access your font. Assuming the font is in the appropriate directory it will be loaded automatically. James Clark jjc@jclark.com
