problems with groff

Program: groff 1.06
OS: SunOS 4.1.2
Machine: sun4c
Compiler: gcc 2.2.2

Problem:
	I build groff, install it and everything seems to work
	ok. For example the command

		groff -man /usr/man/man1/test.1v

	works fine. But when I make clean in the source-tree
	the same commands doesn't work. I get

		groff:fatal error: no `postpro' command in DESC file
		for device `ps'

	I must have done something wrong when I built groff but
	I can't figure out what. Anybody have any idea???
