I compiled and installed groff 1.06 on a Sun 4 without incident. Then I typed `make realclean', and went to another machine. configure ran fine, but then I got `Making all in libgroff' / `make[2]: fopen: Makefile.dep: No such file or directory' and Makefile couldn't figure out what to do next... (This is GNU make 3.62 but I doubt it matters.) karl@cs.umb.edu

I compiled and installed groff 1.06 on a Sun 4 without incident. Then I typed `make realclean', and went to another machine. In this situation it's better to use `make distclean': this deletes all the files that were created by configuring and building groff, but doesn't delete any files that are part of the distribution. configure ran fine, but then I got `Making all in libgroff' / `make[2]: fopen: Makefile.dep: No such file or directory' and Makefile couldn't figure out what to do next... Thanks. I've modified `make realclean' not to remove the Makefile.dep files.
