I got no response from the sgi newsgroups, so I hope you will forgive me
for reposting this here :-

    I am having problems using the GNU Debugger 4.7 under IRIX 4.0.5F.
    
    I used 'configure mips-sgi-irix4' which worked fine for gcc-2.3.3.
    
    It complains that GDB can't read core files on this machine.
    I only have 16M RAM here, and it runs out of memory running the
    executable under gdb - so I need to read corefiles.
    
    I might accept that if the executable had been created using SGI cc, but
    this is something created with gcc 2.3.3.
    
    The same happened with GDB 4.3, which is why I upgraded.
    
    Is there something I am missing here ?
    Do I need different libraries ?
