Machine: vax OS: 4.3bsd, ultrix 2.2 date -u (universal time) doesn't work on old BSD systems because localtime(3) doesn't look at the TZ environment variable (TZ is set to UCT0 if the -u flag is set). This causes rcs [version 5.6] to fail its installation test. Calling gmtime() instead of localtime() when the -u flag is set doesn't completely fix the problem since the wrong time zone is printed. I don't see a clean way of fixing the problem, but perhaps it should be mentioned in the README file. -- Michael Rendell - Dept. of Comp. Sci., Memorial University of Newfoundland
