This shell script
---------- slice 'n' dice ------------------------------------- file: sed-test
#!/bin/sh
SED=${SED:-sed}
echo "this is a test" | ${SED} -e 's,\|,r,g'
----------
demonstrates a bug in sed-1.13.
Running this script with SED=/usr/bin/sed (on a Sun4) returns the string
"this is a test", as expected.
Running the script with SED=/usr/latest/bin/sed (which is 1.13), I get the
following output: "rtrhrirsr rirsr rar rtrersrtr"
This happens when compiled with either cc or gcc.
