I have compiled Gnu tar 1.10 with gcc 1.40 on my Interactive Unix version 2.2 PC. Everything works well except the '-T' option with the '-' argument. I want tar to read the standard input for file names to archive and send to the standard output. In other words, I create a pipe as follows: find <options> | sed -f <sed-script-file> | tar -cvf - -T - > <filename> This works fine until no file names come through the standard input. If sed completes without producing any output, tar doesn't just exit without generating any output, as I would have expected. Instead, it starts taking file and directory names from the current directory an archives those. Is this a bug, or a feature? Bob Crosson crosson@cam.nist.gov
