Sheesh, Dave, give me a chance - I've got other things to do on the
weekends :-)

prep.ai.mit.edu:pub/gnu/bison-1.01.tar.Z is dated May 8 09:44 EDT, and
I picked it up here (just after seeing your note, which was the first
I had heard about the new version) at 15:27 EDT, not quite six hours
later.  I'd say that's "pretty current."

Judging from the timestamp on your article, you apparently picked up
an even earlier file on prep.  The one that's dated May 8 09:44
(223,815 bytes) seems to be healthy.  Please try again - you'll
probably have better luck with this one, whether you get it from
tut.cis.ohio-state.edu or from prep.ai.mit.edu or wherever you may
find it.
