When compiling Gnu diff v1.3 using the HP compiler an HP 9000/3xx running HPUX v6.5, one can not use -O to compile grep.c -- the global optimzer breaks the code. Use -O for everything except grep.c: Use +O1 for this file only (for both grep.o and egrep.o). yours, Scott E.
