I most probably took GNU linebuffer.[hc] from the /lib directory of some GNU *util distribution, but I do not remember which. Hopefully, there is a master copy somewhere for the GNU staff. Both initbuffer() and freebuffer() receive, for their argument, an already allocated `struct linebuffer'. freebuffer() frees it. So, despite perfectly legal to pass a statically allocated variable to initbuffer(), it is not legal to do so for freebuffer(). I feel it would be more consistent if initbuffer() and freebuffer() could always be used in pair. One approach could be that freebuffer() does not free its argument. Another could be that initbuffer() has no argument and returns a freshly allocated `struct linebuffer' structure. -- Franc, ois Pinard ``Vivement GNU!'' pinard@iro.umontreal.ca (514) 588-4656 ...!uunet!iros1!pinard Consider joining the League for Programming Freedom.
