I urge that it become an official policy that *every* GNU manual should, in its Top node, prominently state the version number of the program that it documents (e.g. Emacs version 18.58, not just version 18). I have no convenient way to tell right now whether the documents in the Info tree I'm using are up to date. Printed manuals should also prominently state the version number on the title page, but this isn't usually such a bad problem.
