The 'releases' section of standards.texi says: ----- Try to make sure that all the file names will be unique on MS-DOG. A name on MS-DOG consists of up to 9 characters, optionally followed by a period and up to three characters. ----- This should, in fact, be _8_ characters, followed by a period and three more. -- Jason Merrill jason@jarthur.claremont.edu
