a few more problems with finger (v1.37)

finger version:	1.37
hardware:	sun4m (server), sun4c (36 clients)
OS: SunOS 4.1.2 (all)
C compiler:	gcc -O2 (version 2.2.2) (all)

For version 1.36 of GNU finger, I complained:

> The special user names .version, .local, .clients, and .free are
> only recognized as special if the -s option is used.

This was fixed for in version 1.37 for .version, .local, and
.clients, but not for .free. If I finger -l .free, it tries to find
users with the string "free" in their names. (Worse yet, if I make
--info the default, you have to explicitly say -s to get a listing of
free machines.

Also, according to the NEWS file:

> `finger .free' now always strips off the domain part of the host
> names listed.

You might want to make this configurable. If you have
machines with the same name but on different domains, and GNU finger
is running on both of them, it would be confusing.

Another thing... these lines from lib/os.c:

> /* Location of the accounting file. This is for filling in the WHAT field. */
> #define ACCT_FILE "/usr/adm/acct"

...really should be in include/fingerpaths.h. The location of
the accounting file is is not the same on all machines. (Our
machines' accounting files are /var/adm/pacct, for example.) This
needs to be configurable.

You might also wish to say that the "what" field will be blank
unless the SYSACCT option was compiled in with the machine's kernel,
and accounting is turned on.

	Thanks for FINGER_TO_FINGER_SERVICE!

	Regards,

James
