Conversion from SCCS to RCS
#125

We wish to switch from using SCCS to RCS. I have found a program
called sccstorcs on our Apollos but the files to be converted are all
on ISC UNIX machines. I do not want to have to move everything to the
Apollos, wait 50 years or more for the conversion to complete (it is
very slow) and then get them back.

So.

Does anyone know where I can get the sources for sccstorcs? Or even
an executable for ISC UNIX if the source is not easily available?

Thanks.

There is a script called sccs2rcs in volume 15 of comp.sources.misc,
available from many archive sites. (In the UK, for example
clover.csv.warwick.ac.uk in
/pub/archive/comp.sources.misc/volume15/sccs2rcs_kc.)

The latest release of CVS 1.3 contains a shell script called sccs2rcs
that converts SCCS files to RCS, without losing any of the history
information.

I think you should consider switching to CVS instead. CVS is a
front-end to RCS with many useful features. Check it out!
