Please forgive me if I have send this to the wrong mailbox.  We are using
GNUEMACS 18.48.2 under 4.3bsd #17, at apple on a Vax.  M-x rmail does
not work correctly, giving the message "movemail: error creating lock file".
I asked our system administrators about this, and they said that we
use a different (newer?) scheme for preventing simultaneous access to
the mailbox file (eg, /usr/spool/mail/mlmiller) than is used in GNUEMACS.

They said that we have (or can get?) sources and invited me to fix and
rebuild.  (I think most people use the unix "mail" command.)  But, I'm not
really in a position (in terms of familiarity with the sources, unix
expertise, or time) to do this.  Is there a version we could FTP that
would work correctly?  Perhaps we just have an old copy of gnuemacs or
built it with the wrong switches or something?  Thanks, Mark
