I have been trying to compile binutils-1.94 on ISC unix 3.0
(SysVr3). What is the correct configuration to make this
thing compile? I have tried i386-isc-sysv, i386-unknown-sysv, and
i386-none-sysv. Please respond to this query via mail to me directly,
as I do not get the news group yet.

I get the farthest with the following:
configure: i386-none-sysv
texinfo/C/info.c:#define CBREAK O_CBREAK /* ISC only defines O_CBREAK*/
Makefile:HDEFINES = -DUSG -DUSGr3
Makefile:RANLIB = ar ts
make -k CC=gcc-2.2.2
make -k # to complete linking ( I need gnu ld...)
I come up with errors saying:
ld fatal: archive symbol directory is missing from archive ./../../libiberty/libiberty.a
execute 'ar ts ./../../libiberty/libiberty.a' to restore archive symbol directory
*** Error code 13
ld fatal: archive symbol directory is missing from archive ./../../bfd/libbfd.a
execute 'ar ts ./../../bfd/libbfd.a' to restore archive symbol directory
*** Error code 13
The errors did not go away after restoring the archive symbol directory

Thanks,
Tim
